I’ve no hesitation in recommending these resource sheets to anyone who is working with adult learners. They are suitable for people aiming to improve their literacy, or for anyone who is learning English as a second or other language. The sheets are clear, concise and straightforward, and — importantly — thay don’t patronise the learner.

I’ve worked with LC Education for nearly two years. They are experienced in the delivery of Functional Skills and have built up an amazing bank of resources to support delivery. The team are very responsive and have developed a number of topical resources which will be of interest to different learner cohorts, for example workbooks exploring fuel prices when oil and gas prices rose sharply. Resources are well written and help to take the pain away from tutors and let them get on with teaching, monitoring and motivating to get the best out of learners.
Just want to say I love the functional skills platform; I find it so easy to find where things are and there’s such a wide range of things to study.
I love you can find the answers to the worksheets, so I’m not left wondering if I got the answers correct!

This approach to maths makes so much more sense -it’s real-world life skills and just working through the workbook makes sense as to why the student needs to know how to approach the questions!
If maths was taught like this in schools where skills relevant to living life and the skills we need to navigate it, students would be able to see why they need to learn something and not push back so hard!
I can honestly say as an adult I have never needed to work out how to measure a triangle 
so it gets tricky to justify to my kids why they need to complete their homework as actually most of what they learn in maths they won’t use in their lives!
That said your workbooks do teach useful and relevant maths – I have needed to be able to compare the cost of a service, work out how much additional interest I will pay if I take a longer term or how much I would save by block booking versus paying for 1 lesson at a time!
These are the sort of lessons that will equip students to be able to make more sense of the world and how to thrive in it.
